Linda Lou

September 16, 2014 at Inspire Park
My little barbie doll belongs to me completely. A gorgeous blond biker girl from Texas who sports a glock and a sexy southern drawl that makes me smile everytime I hear her, she is witty, educated, and has the sweetest of dispositions, and yet she is also a smart businesswoman who shoots rattlesnakes (and probably yankee booties!) that get in her way.

And if you're wondering what we were thinking at the time...

Awww...I can almost feel my blood sugar levels rising (amongst other rising things). Down boy! Down!

Naked Dancing in the Blake Seas

I took the Wallaby out for a spin in the Blake Seas, going south from Spy Glass to the Siren Isles. I hadn't sailed in almost a year (!), and I have to admit I had to figure out the controls again. But I soon got the hang of it, and it was as usual soothing just to sail quietly and watch the islands and waves go by.

When I got to Siren Isles, I found a crowd there already. One blue sailboat flying a Greek flag in particular was notable because there were three avatars dancing naked on deck. This was so unusual that a patrol boat circled the revelers warily while other onlookers probably watched on.

The Greek sailboat derezzed almost immediately after that, probably because they were in violation of some United Sailing Sims rule and the patrol had returned the boat to inventory. Oh well, it was still quite a sight while the party was going on *grins*

Auction at Cafe LaPe'rouse @Austin

Auction boards were on display for one month
I attended the the final auction at Cafe LaPe'rouse @Austin on the afternoons of October 11 and 12, 2014, which was part of their 6th anniversary celebrations. For one month preceding the final auction, boards showing the people for auction had been on display on a wall behind the Cafe. People could bid on the boards, which gave out note cards detailing information about the person being auctioned.

The Cafe is a well done sim with one of the friendlier rez points for new visitors. When someone first rezzes in, they are greeted by a map of the entire place, along with lines showing the route of the metro rail, There is also comprehensive information in note cards about the group, and a stand that holds the group's newsletter.

I was also impressed by the metro train that runs from one end of the sim to the other.

Metro that runs across sim
During the final auction, which was held over two consecutive days, Cafe LaPe'rouse's Ratzu Darkstone displayed each board in turn with the help of o-girl Ivy, and everyone in attendance placed their final bids.

The presentation was done in voice, but everyone was free to communicate in voice or general chat. I came about 30 minutes late on the first day, and Linda (lb burnstein) joined in the festivities about 15 minutes later.

MK and Linda at the Final Auction Day 1
I enjoyed it. I had been visiting the Cafe LaPe'rous @Austin for a few weeks now, and so I knew some of the people in the crowd. I have found the group to be very well organized and quite active, and friendly towards visitors. They put out regular newsletters, have a yearbook, and just put out a cookbook as well! You can view a list of activities at the sim here.

The bidding was fast and furious during that first day, and laughter and hilarity were staples for the day. The top bids were on one event with Ratzu Darkstone, with the bids topping out at more than 10,000 L, but some of the o-girls attracted very handsome bounties as well. I won Linda, who captivated the crowd with her dark red gown and southern belle accent, by bidding 8000 L for a 2 hour session with her, and I'm sure I will thoroughly enjoy that date as well!

Thanks to Ivy1 and Melinda Nyn especially for information on the festivities. The seats were quite comfy and a good time was had by all.

Ratzu Darkstone presides over the bidding.

The bidding for the lovely Melinda Nyn begins!

Omega D/s Library

As I noted in a previous post about the Ugajin Library in Xaara, I have always enjoyed settling down with a good read and expanding my knowledge about D/s and BDSM in general. Thus, I am always on the lookout for new places that can cater to this predilection of mine, and I was fortunate enough this week to be introduced to the Omega D/s Library, which has been around since 2006 (an amazing run given the brief lifespan of most sims in Second Life) and touts itself as the largest repository of BDSM material in SL.

The library is housed in an enormous structure with high ceilings, comfortable seating, and wall to wall wooden bookcases. The ambiance is elegant and refined, with a vaguely European decor and chairs that automatically shove a book up your nose when you sit ;-)

Most of the bookcases are  non-functional and serve mainly as decoration, and the visitor needs to mosey on over to the cases near the fireplace, which do serve up note cards with the chosen literature when you click on them. I particularly like the fact that the scripts show how many times a particular topic has been requested by patrons.

In addition to the library itself, the sim houses a garden, a dungeon, and various other areas for relaxation and play. It also hosts discussions about BDSM topics during the week.

I am indebted to DixieDoolittle for being kind enough to invite me and show me around the place, and for Careena1 for throwing a dominant tag my way (perhaps after inhaling all the leather smells wafting around as I jigged and jagged at the House of V dance floor).

Oh, and thanks to Ema1983 for warning me about that damn Truth Ball...nosey little thing that asked such perverted questions that I almost fainted in shock!

Get well soon!

Sometimes we tend to forget that the perfectly coiffed and dressed and healthy avis we interact with here in SL represent real people, who are just as prone to all the frailties that afflict us in real life. I have known Lori Novo for quite some time now, and she has always been a very nice, sincere, and helpful person, in addition to being the author of one of the more popular fashion blogs in SL.

In this time of need, I just wanted to publicly wish her all the best and wish her continued health. Get well soon Lori! xxx

The girl in the orange outfit

November 2014 picture
Note: This post was written in March 2015.

A week and a half ago I was bored and doing my piano gig at The Chamber.

As was usual, I was perving the profiles of people who were at least moderately interesting, when I spotted a girl standing near the terrace doors who was wearing a blindingly bright orange outfit.

I almost, almost (!),  passed over her, but I figured I might as well say something about the outfit. Plus, her avi had a regular name and a full profile, which are big pluses in my mind.

Little did I know I was going to get hitched that very day.

MK: Your outfit nearly blinded me when I popped in ;-)  Cool orange!

Linda: ohh gosh..sorry..you are gonna need sunglasses

MK: Ma'am, I wear sunglasses all the time. I've been mistaken for Corey Hart at times.

Linda: nice looking man

Linda: i get mistaken for Kellie Pickler..dont think it's a compliment ..lol

MK: That's what lots of lindens will get you ha ha. No, let me correct that...that's what some lindens will get you AND an eye for looking like the Keannu Reaves.

MK: *runs to google*

Linda: laughsss

MK: va va va voom!!!!

Linda: lots of lindens got me great boobs too...gotta love the adjust buttons

MK: Let me see that outfit again...*clicks zoom*

Linda: ohh i thought you meant rl

MK: *ohh i thought you meant rl* you look like her in RL? Will you marry me?

Linda: yes i will marry you!!!

MK: Well, that line HAD to work someday. Yay!

Linda: are you rich and old?

MK: Old is a relative term. Rich too. Give me parameters.

Linda: laughssss

Linda: Hi I'm Linda...x from Texas

MK: Ok, well I'm slightly older than you...have no idea whether I'm richer.

Linda: corey harts rich

Linda: you should bank on that

MK: Ok, well, he's an artist so i'd say I'm POORER.

Linda: lol

MK: I'm from the X area...you have anything against the northeast?

Linda: you make me laugh and can speak in full sentences..i like that

Linda: oh dang...cant do X

Linda: sorry thats a deal breaker

Linda: south of the Mason Dixon

MK: Ok, well I'm originally from a tropical area...so I'm fucking WAY south.

MK: Will that do?

Linda: we get into trouble if we know Yankees

Linda: laughs...yes..ok wedding back on

The conversation went on for some time, and it was immediately obvious to me that Linda was a smart, and quite funny girl. She walked over to the piano to watch me play, and before we parted friended me (for some reason, I still remember that parting quite vividly).

The rest, as they say, was history.

Gacha Limited Edition Collectibles Bears

Hand it to the Japanese to come up with another weird social marketing game, but the Gacha phenomenon has been sweeping through SL, and I landed these two seriously cute mesh teddy bears in monkey and elephant garb. Kudos to Serena Mist of You're the One store, who sent the tip, and who makes some mighty fine teddy bears herself!

The ebb and flow of sales

We seem to have gotten a spike in the number of rental boxes sold, which is a good thing for cutie Lemur.

It's funny selling items here in SL. We don't really advertise, and so we're dependent on the search order ranking in the marketplace, and that ranking seems to depend a lot on the price of an item and how many times it was bought earlier, so there's a positive feedback loop in play.

This means that the more you sell, the more likely you'll continue selling going forward, until a lull in the sales pushes the item back down again in the search rankings.

The bad thing about this is that rarely found and sold items tend to remain that way, unless you pay SL some dinero and place the item in the featured list on top of each search page. We haven't done that in maybe a year or two, since we first started.

You could try "gaming" the system by buying your own stuff of course, but sooner or later the marketplace notices the trend and shuts down your store, so besides being akin to "cheating", it also becomes self-defeating after awhile.

Fortunately, I'm a smelly homeless hobo, so I don't need to pay for virtual real estate and can cruise along on the earnings of the stores...a cup of coffee once in awhile (or tea in my case), and some escort services when I get too lonely (I'm joking, I'm joking!)

1000 milestone for DM Pussy

Although I wasn't available to note it down, the DM Pussy reached an important milestone earlier this month, selling its 1000th copy in SL. I hope everyone who bought it found it useful and enjoyable, and I hope as well that we will be able to continue to add new features to the product line as time passes.
