A new route to Siren's Isles on the Linda Lou

I had some free time Saturday night, so I took the Linda Lou out for a spin.

I had been thinking about the new route that we had discovered between our place and the Galaxy cruise ship, and I determined to explore that route further.

On the way to the Galaxy cruise ship, I found a slew of sailboats moored along an island, and when I stopped to investigate found that it was a sailing club called Fisher's Island Club, and that it was directly across from the Cooper Creek Wilderness Area that I had visited in early 2015.

The place was anchored by a clean homey looking structure.

And there were a variety of sailboats flying different flags moored next to it.

It had a vast space inside, probably for dancing.

And even a piano, which I tried out.

In RL i can play the organ, and I first met my baby at the chamber while playing the piano there. Alas, Linda didn't show up again this time when I played it.

I continued on, passing the huge 3-sim Galaxy.

I noticed a tiny island to one side of the ship that functioned as the Galaxy Marina, and stopped to look it over. I had noticed people lounging here, probably fishing earlier, but there was no one there when I visited it last.

From there I sailed west before turning north and passing through a rather narrow channel formed by the tiny islands in Honah Lee South.

Once I passed these groups of islands, I turned northwest and soon came upon Sirens Isles, where I discovered to my surprise a somewhat large group of boats clustered among the various isles.

There was even one boat that had a small gathering taking place, with maybe 5 people crowded into the smaller boat, which i believe was the same model as my old Wallaby sailboat.

It was an idyllic moment, and I spent some time just relaxing and looking at the place.

After awhile I realized it was getting late, and raised my sails and headed back towards Sailors Cove South.

I resolved that one of these days I would bring along a few friends on one of my jaunts, similar to the trip we had made with Billy and Sage.

A Scenic Journey on the Linda Lou with Billy and Sage (and Linda too!)

Sage had won a sailboat trip with Linda and me during one of Austin's auctions this year, and I scheduled our trip for this Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Billy Avedon and Sage (SageWisdom) met us at our home in Sailors Cove South at around 8 am SLT, where we would board the Linda Lou and start our adventure!

I had planned our route earlier, although there were parts of the route that I had never navigated before.

We headed north at first towards the main channel of the Blake Seas using unfurled sails, then headed due west to pass by Hollywood Airport.

On the way out, Billy sat behind while the girls sunned themselves on some lounge chairs.

I had motored close to the airport runways when we all were suddenly swept into the sea! I immediately cammed up and saw that the Linda Lou had continued without us!

It was only through my expert sailing and swimming skills (lol) that I managed to get back into the skipper's post of the runaway sailboat and haul the rest back up on deck.

We then headed due west on engines to Crow's Nest, and I carefully maneuvered the Linda Lou next to the craggy shoreline.

Linda, Billy and Sage jumped out and climbed up the steep stairs to the top.

At the top there is a memorial, a monument to Sailors in Second Life and real world sailors alike. On this Fastnet Rock in Second Life are inscribed the names of sailors who have passed on.

The Queen of Ham

From Crow's Nest we sailed south towards Sirens Isle, where I had my female alt Ronnie Huber guard the Linda Lou while the four of us non-alts gathered on a picnic blanket that I had spread out. It will come as no surprise that someone tried to pick her up while we were out and about....Ronnie is seriously sexy ;-)

After imbibing some champagne that Linda had taken out for the occasion, we piled back onto the Linda Lou and continued south, where we soon came upon the largest ship ever in Second Life, the Galaxy cruise ship!

I managed to moor the Linda Lou as close as possible to the dock without ramming into it, whereupon we spied some unusual swans waiting by the side.

Linda (of course!) immediately jumped onto one, and we all soon joined her in floating around on the oversized avians.

We then boarded the Galaxy and explored its vast interior.

"Darn, will we have time to explore all THAT!!???"

My only problem was I had a  heck of a time trying to get Linda to stand still for a pic. I swear, that girl has an itch to wander around.

I think from now on I'll call her "Linda Rover", kinda like that "Mars Rover" robot, cuz she's tiny, rattles when you shake her, and has a habit of aimlessly wandering around exploring things.

One interesting thing we found out was that the elevators in the ship actually work!

Linda (of course!) went into one and after finding out that it actually worked, urged us to pile in.

We took the elevator to an Atrium, where there were drinks laid out for any weary travelers who passed through.

We talked for awhile sipping champagne, then decided we would end our trip at this point. We had been gone for 2.5 hours already, and our get-together at our home was fast approaching.

All in all, I enjoyed the trip immensely, and I would love to do it again. Lots of laughter and exploration, and my passengers got to see some places they had never been to before.

Racing the Linda Lou

For the first time in weeks I took the Linda Lou out for a spin, sailing north at a fast clip from our home in Sailors Cove South, through the Spoondrift Narrows and then turning west after Horseshoe Park to go past Santa Catalina Island then southwest to moor at Sirens Isle.

On the way up I passed (and almost rammed!) another fast boat manned by Keliani, who was kind enough to accept my apologies for doing the sailing equivalent of street racing.

I moored in my usual spot, on the northern end of the chain, then rested on one of the outside seats to watch the passing traffic.

Sirens Isle itself had changed slightly, and not for the better in my opinion. The arrangement of land seemed more open, and less embracing than it used to be. although the crashed plan was still there.

But it was still a popular resting stop for passing sailors, who moored in its relatively sheltered waters after a long journey.

Interestingly enough, I think i was even privy to an unusual pick up attempt, with one man sidling over to a moored boat with a female captain and sunning himself while she did the same only a few meters away.

Alas, the woman left abruptly, and I could almost feel sad for the man as he raised sail and slowly moved on to the next island stop.

Sailors Cove South to Sirens Isle

I finally took the Linda Lou for a long sail towards Sirens Isle.

The route I took was fairly convoluted, and it took about 40 minutes or so to get to my destination, but it was so very relaxing to finally moor at the Isle.

From our home, I sailed north past Bulia, then east until I sighted Spoondrift, whereupon, I again turned north, continuing all the way until I passed Horseshoe Park on the port side.

I then made a strong turn towards the west and out into the open seas, sailing southwest until I came upon the Isle.

New Daintree Home

We moved to a new home on 26-1-2015 in order to have direct access to open waters for the Linda Lou. We found a 1800 sqm, 740 prim parcel in Sailor's Cove South, smack dab in the middle of island rainforest.

It's a beautiful area, and Linda terraformed and decorated the parcel until it was as comfy as can be. She also upgraded her sandbox so as to make it almost like some beautiful sim, with tropical vegetation all around, and even flowing water!

When I compare the new place to my previous home, I have to admit, a woman's touch definitely makes a very big difference for the better!

To the northwest of the new home is Sirens Isles, and almost directly north is the Galaxy cruise ship. Unfortunately, neither is easy to get to due to blank areas in between, and one must circle around to the northeast for a long distance, and thence head west in order to reach them.

I should reiterate...it's a beautiful area, much more so than Lorena Chung, at least in terms of exploring the surroundings using water transport. I've even rezzed a public jetski by the dock for any friends who may want to visit in future and tour the waterways that surround the island parcels.
