Quote of the Month (June 2016)

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.."

I have seen this quote in quite a few profiles, and this time I took it from Avril Aura's picks.

Its attribution has been a source of mystery for awhile, although some have ascribed it to a 1989 book by Vicki Corona.

The overall meaning of the quote itself is fairly clear, though one could argue about the exact meaning of "taking our breath away."

Does this refer to having lots of active fun and excitement in your life, or does it refer to experiencing wonder and joy at the seeing and experiencing of extraordinary things?

Or maybe both? ;-)

Quote of the Month (May 2016)

Groucho Linda waiting to surprise her Master
This was what I saw the first time I read Linda's public profile around 2 years back:

Live, Love, Laugh often. I like dancing, laughing, harleys, and very dominant men. For goodness sakes, just try to have some fun and don't worry about being so dang cool. Let's go jump off a roof!! .....Just enjoy life and let's get kinky!

It was bubbly, to the point, and oh so true (well, minus the jumping off the roof thing, and in public maybe the kinky thing), and its very exuberance probably strengthened my attraction to the writer of the profile.

I have pretensions to being a Taoist, and although I am by nature not really a fun type guy (I was called Mr. Spock during high school for my cold logical demeanor), I admired the sentiment expressed by this girl in the bright orange outfit.

Often in life we start forgetting that in the end, it's all about trying to find happiness (though without compromising ourselves or hurting others)...and by that I mean not simply trying to derive happiness from without, but finding the inner deeper joy from within ourselves.

Quote of the Month (April 2016)

A quote I first read from the profile of the owner of a sim called Journey to Submission....the original quote was from Bob Marley, and Genny Clary had reversed the pronouns to feminine forms and made some subtle changes:

"You might not be his first, his last, or his only. He's cared about someone else before and possibly will again, but if he cares for you now, then what else matters?  He's not perfect and you aren't either, and the two of you will never be perfect, but if he can make you laugh at least once, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He is probably not going to quote poetry, he might not be thinking about you every second of the day, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you can break. So don't hurt him, don't change him and don't expect more than he can give. Don't over analyze, smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he's not there."

Quote of the Month (March 2016)

In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you - Buddha

I've been seeing some really good quotes on people's profiles recently, and so decided I would highlight the ones I think are interesting each month.

This first quote I saw was in the profile of Grace (Summergrace), who is the sim owner of the Veiled Underground.

It is attributed to the Buddha, but was in fact from a book that distills his teachings into memorable thoughts. Nevertheless, i thought it encapsulated a good deal of wisdom in such a short sentence.

Think about it. Use it.
