Dancing through the 1920s

I attended the second dancing through the decades event hosted by Meli and with DJ Stormy. The venue was created by Aria. It was an interesting affair, with many dressed up as flapper girls.

I danced with my ward, the very lovely Elicia (who seems to be a font of dirty word euphemisms, some of which made me blush,  tsk tsk tsk *wonders whether washing mouth with soap is a valid punishment for GIS*)

Polynesian Dreams

I seem to have a fetish for all things Polynesian recently, after watching Moana.

It's not only the languages that fascinate me (just hearing something like Reo Tahiti seems to remind me of tiny islands in the Pacific), but I've been listening to some Polynesian music, and I want to share some of them with you here.

Te Vaka is a group behind some of the songs in Moana. It was founded by Opetaia Foa'i and is composed of eleven musicians and dancers from Tokelau, Tuvalu, Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji and New Zealand.

This is their first single. Not to be crass and juvenile, but the babe with the radically sexy hips is Olivia Foa’i, the daughter of the founder.

If you'd like something more tranquil, Maisey Rika sings in Maori (Te Reo), and some of her songs are quite ethereally beautiful.

Ronald and Orchid's 4th Anniversary

I managed to attend part of Ronald and Orchid's 4th Anniversary celebration.

It was a quiet but meaningful event, with about 15 people witnessing the renewal of their vows.

It's always very nice to see relationships flourish here at Austin, and the vows they gave to one another definitely made some tear up.

Best wishes to the two!

Ronald Schmid: I come to you today first, to offer my gratitude to you. For you, Orchid, have been my Pet and partner and fulfilled the very promises you made that day Four Years ago.  You have always made your self to be beautiful for me, each day,  and to have always obeyed me. You are a woman who  is who you said you were, and your words 4 years ago only articulated who you have been for me, even through all the difficult months of your personal loss, and illness.

Ronald Schmid: And I come to you today, again, to renew my desire and promise to be your Master, to continue to be your safe harbor, and share  your life. I  renew my commitment to you, and my desire to be with you, enjoy you, use you even, and help  you grow, as  you have and do make me grow too.

Ronald Schmid reaches down to secure Orchid's collar once more

Ronald Schmid: Today I lock your collar, but free you on to fly, and though your leash is longer, and I seem so far away, I always am beside you, and will alway have you stay,  back with me in the shelter of my one particular harbor, to grown again still older and know our love will stay.

Orchid (orchid.zsun): thank you my Master

Orchid (orchid.zsun) touches my collar around my neck with joy and pride

Orchid (orchid.zsun): I come here at our 4 year celebration  with my mind on the past present and the future.  How we met here on this sim when i was just an applicant.  Both with other people ... but there was a spark and also a friendship and also a girl being trained and taught by a Master.

Orchid (orchid.zsun): Slowly as we both had our struggles and changes  we were thru all of it still bonding and getting to know eachother  and can not deny the magic between us.

Orchid (orchid.zsun): Way before there was a thought it would be possible to be yours my desire to kneel to serve to give myself to you was there and it bloomed and blossomed from that first meeting  to ... every day since till now and going forward.

Orchid (orchid.zsun): Every year that we come to this anniversary  you always ask me each year and cause me to think about  .... if i want to continue  .. if i want to keep going ... if we should still do this together

Orchid (orchid.zsun): and i would stop and think ...... are you kidding !!!   you can't get rid of me that easy  .. i have never had any thoughts then wanting to be with you

Orchid (orchid.zsun): yes there has been some struggles with the time that we see eachother and that is out of my control  ... but it never stopped me from wanting to be yours in any way

Orchid (orchid.zsun): My desire for you has only grown my craving for you has only intensified  ..

Orchid (orchid.zsun): thank you for owning me , thank you for taking care of this toy

Orchid (orchid.zsun): i have changed, but my vows and commitment hasn't
i recommit myself to you

Ronald Schmid: Stand Orchid!

Ronald Schmid: Thank  you  my Pet.. I love you very much.. and thank  you  all  of you for honoring us both this day.

One Year

It's been one year in RL, and a lifetime in SL.

Funny how time works.

When I gave you my collar I made a promise, and I intend to keep that promise. Such is life.

Janjiku padamu

Ku akan s'lalu ingatmu
meski tahun-tahun berlalu
seperti daun-daun yang jatuh.

I still remember you my boo, my southern girl, even as the year passed like a fallen leaf.

From exploding penises to Disney...Oh my!

I watched Moana recently and really liked the depiction of Polynesians in the movie.

Compared to others, Disney has been relatively sensitive to cultural appropriation and other such things, and for the movie they even consulted many scholars of the Oceanic people. Disney also likes to create different versions of its songs in different languages, some of which are endangered.

I found a really good video showing one of the main songs in Moana being sang in the Tahitian language (Reo Ma'ohi), and I loved it. This is how Moana would actually sound like (well, if she was real). Also note that the term "Moana" actually means "Sea" or "Ocean" in that language, so you'll see that word in the subtitles too..

The Polynesian languages are all part of the Austronesian language family group, which also contains my native tongues, so I noticed some common words. (e.g. the word for "eye" is "mata"). The sounds are different though, because of the glottal stops and lack of phonemes in Polynesian languages. Their language does not contain a lot of phonemes...it only has five vowels and nine consonants!

Anyways, enjoy.

ps. I also like this other song from Moana in Tahitian...

Exploding penises

I was minding my own business, dancing at Billy and Sage's 3rd Anniversary Wing dance, when the always-sexy Kota girl molested me and caused some rather messy eruptions.

Oh well...just another day of my penis exploding on me.

Thanks to Saras (Sarasvatii Resident) for taking the pic at just the right moment! It's magic!

Into the abyss (of marriage!)

Entering into new relationships is scary at times, more so if that long-term relationship will test your faithfulness and loyalty. And yet people do it all the time...they commit to something because they know (or hope!) that the rewards are more than the demands that will be placed on them. Or, maybe it's just because they don't know what horrors lurk in the prison of matrimony ;-)

But the magic moment is when you make the final decision to go ahead, come what may. Bravo to the brave ones, the ones who can dream of something better.

I kinda tear up when I view this very new music video from Malaysia...it shows the progression of a relationship from childhood to romance...to marriage and old age...very romantic pics and the melody is really good...enjoy!

The chorus in Bahasa and English:

Sedia ku terima dirimu seadanya
I am ready to receive you

Setia menjaga mu untuk selamanya
To faithfully watch over you always

Sedia ku diduga ku berani kerana
I am ready for my courage to be tested because...

Telah ku menang kamu
I've won you.
